Macklowe had to go through one of the most public divorces, the largest in New York history. The former couple have dragged each other into several years of battle over multi-billionaire assets including pricey real estate in New York and the Hamptons, yachts, and, of course, a stunning art collection estimated to be worth upwards of $700 million.
Evil or Genius?
Harry Macklowe went all out to taunt his ex-wife, to whom he had been married for more than 50 years, and the divorce from whom was very expensive and difficult for him. He chose the fanciest tower in Manhattan to display a picture of himself and his new wife.
The best part is that his ex was planning to buy an apartment on the 78th floor of that exact tower. That was this New York real estate developer says it's his way of letting his new wife know he loves her.
He paid the modest sum of $ 2,000 for the 12-meter-high photographs, which he bid on at a charity auction and later had plastered on the skyscraper.
For now, Harry Macklowe doesn't know how long the picture will be hanging on the front of the building.
