The number one criterion to make it as a male porn star
When asked by LADbible what it took to cut it in the industry, Demetri XXX—who used to be a business analyst in the early 2000s—says the number one thing casting directors look for is seeing if you can get it up on command.
That's right, getting hard on command is apparently the most important criterion for guys trying to make it big in the adult entertainment industry. Demetri says:
For me, I was sent to a set, there was no camera or crew—just one woman—she had a webcam set up and there were people logged in, paying to watch. They were sending in requests asking us to do things - telling us what positions to do, where to put what, etc. The main purpose of that process is to see if a man can get wood on demand.
Not as easy as it looks
And although getting it up might seem like a rather easy thing to achieve when your co-star happens to be smoking' hot, it's actually a lot harder than you would think (no pun intended). According to Demetri, having many other people (camera crew, assistants, light technicians, etc) present in the scene while you are trying to get it on can really interfere with the process. He explains:
Sometimes there can be 20 or 30 people hanging around on set while you're trying to have sex; it's getting stopped and started; the positions you do are designed to look good on camera but aren't necessarily what you'd like to do at home. There's all these things.
And added:
Obviously when it's good, it's great. You turn up, the woman is stunning and you get along, the director is your mate, there's a really good vibe, and, yeah, then it's great. But that's not the majority of the time, by any means.
