During promotion for his latest film Mortal Engines, Peter Jackson confides in the site Syfy Wire. He explains that to adapt a novel to cinema, you have to know the story by heart and know every in and out. But George R.R. Martin's novel is uncertain; the end is still unknown and the series takes a lot of freedom with the story, as he told Allociné.

"As a director, my worst nightmare would be something like Game of Thrones, where novels are adapted while their author is still wondering how things are going to end, and you have to compose a story without knowing where it would go. As for the insecurity that would build, it would terrify me."
If the adventures of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins were perilous, they're nonetheless faithful to Tolkien's novel.

Present at the Comic Con Experience in Brazil, the two show-runners of the Game of Thrones series - Dan Weiss and David Benioff - confessed having known the final outcome of the series for a long time. And yes, both directors are aware of who will get the throne... They have been so since the end of season 3! Lucky. It's therefore been 5 years that they've been making the world hold its breath. Unfortunately, the public will have to wait a little longer before figuring out the main mystery of Game of Thrones...
