Near Sicily in Italy, two men who were near the shore saw a huge whale that had been caught in illegal fishing nets. The young athletes quickly notified the authorities who came to the rescue.

Members of the coast guard approached the scene and assisted the animal. The rescue mission was recorded and shared on social media in order to raise awareness about the alarming situation.
Divers had to work for hours in order to completely free the animal without harming it, which was quite challenging since the sperm whale in question measured more than 10 meters long.
When they finally managed to release it, authorities reported that this was not the first time something like this had happened. In fact, this was the second occurrence of Italian coasts in less than a month.
