Some species there have not changed in over 20 million years. And this is because the island has long been cut off from the world because it is difficult to access. The island of Socotra has been a Unesco World Heritage site since 2008. Several tribes have settled there, with a population of about 40,000 on this 'extraterrestrial' land.
