'Most haunted house' in Ireland for sale, ghosts included

Here is a real estate offer that has not gone unnoticed. It is one of the most haunted houses in the world. Called Loftus Hall, the property is located on the Hook Head Peninsula in the south-east of Ireland. It covers 63 hectares and is located near a lighthouse. Over the centuries, it has undergone several transformations. Today, it has about 22 rooms. If you have a lot of friends, you'll have plenty enough to have a scary party, as you're likely to see some poltergeists...

A film worthy tale of frights and ghosts

It all began in the 18th century. Back then, the Tottenham family owned the desmain. It was a crossroads for many a sailor looking for a place to rest after sailing the turbulent waters of the peninsula.

One evening, a stranger knocked on Loftus Hall's gate, seeiking refuge after his boat was blown onto the beach by a storm. During his stay, the Tottenham daughter, Anne, began to show a growing interest in the stranger. One evening, as they were both sat at a table to play a card game, she dropped one of them to the floor. As she bent down to pick it up, she suddenly realised that the stranger had cloven hooves instead of feet, one of the marks of the Devil. She then began to scream in terror, and the stranger disappeared through the ceiling in the guise of a fire ball.

Anne was traumatised by this event. Her parents confined her to one of the many bedrooms of the house, so that none may be witness to her madness. Two years on, she was dead. But according to family and staff, her spirit remained, haunting the house. The Tottenham called on a priest, father Thomas Broaders, so that he may exorcise the house.

Paranormal manifestations

The house was reopenend to public visits in 2012. Since then, many people crossing Loftus Hall's threshold claimed to have been witness to paranormal events.

In 2014, the house made headlines thanks to Thomas Beavis' story. During a visit, the 21-year-old had taken a picture on which could be seen two women-shaped figures, looking like ghosts from behind a window. These images has gone worldwide.

What's the damage for the haunted marvel?

The current owners are Shane and Aiden Quigley. They would like to sell the property, but not to just anyone. They have put a lot of time and money into keeping the property in good repair and would like their successor to do the same. If you want to buy Loftus Hall, you'll have to pay no less than £2.2 million. Put up for sale in August 2020, it still hasn't found a buyer! Scared much?
