Experts at the National Space Centre in Leicester claim the meteor was likely to be a bolide, a type of meteor that explodes when it enters the Earths atmosphere.
Rob Dawes, chairman of nearby Sherwood Observatory stated that such meteors are not totally rare:
"[Mr Rogers] was very lucky to get such a nice bright one. But you'd be surprised how many of these do come into the atmosphere at any time of year."
This is not the first instance of this kind of event occurring, doorbell cameras can catch some entertaining footage. A similar event took place in Florida in March 2019, where another exploding meteor was caught via the same system.
Nevertheless, this could be a once in a lifetime event for Rogers.
