It's not very often that you get to spot a bear in the wild and it's even less often to see one just chilling on the roadside. In either circumstance, the last thing to go through many of our heads would be to get out and take a photo with it.

But, one woman, clearly lacking any self-preservation instincts decided to try her luck and get up close and personal with the wild beast and we're just thankful someone else had the good sense to film it.
An exceptionnally poor idea
The incident occurred on a countryside road in Romania where a woman with something in her hand attempted to walk near the bear for a photo. And while admittedly the beast looked like her was just hanging out having a good time, he clearly must have spotted a rare opportunity and almost tried to make a meal of the woman.
Passengers of a car behind the woman recorded the whole incident and can be heard in the background saying:
I have to film it, look how she is holding her hand, stupid girl.
All jokes aside, thebear looked as if he was just trying to scare off the eccentrically dressed passenger as he lunged right at the woman before backing away and going right back to his comfy little spot. And, of course, finally fearing for her life the girl sprinted back to the safety of her car. The people behind the camera can be heard stating:
Can you see how stupid she is? Go into the car. All that risk for a picture with a bear?
The original video hit the web after being posted on TikTok by Alessandro Bacaoanu. the video has since been taken down and it is unsure where in Romania the incident occurred.
Disrepectful of animals
However, Romanian authorities have given many warnings to the public in relation to their interactions with the wild animals claiming that by feeding the bears they will then become reliant on the public for food. Costel Alexe, the Minister of the Environment recently released in a statement:
The bear is a wild animal protected by law, not a pet. I say once again to the citizens of this country: a bear which has tasted biscuits, wafers, and feels that he can get his food in this way, will never be able to adapt to the forest again.
Not to mention that interacting with a wild bear could also result in its injury or death. Recently, authorities in Italy sentenced a bear to death for mauling two hikers.
Fabio Misseroni, and his son Christian Misseroni, were enjoying the great outdoors of Monte Peller when they stumbled upon the path of a brown bear who did not take their presence lightly. The 59-year-old father broke his leg in three places after jumping on top of the bear to stop it from completely destroying his son's leg.
The two survived the encounter but it goes to show that bears should definitely not be messed with.
